Resolution Authorizing An Application For Grant Funding To The New Jersey Department Of Transportation

Body

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has grant funding available through the newly created “Local Freight Impact Fund Grant Program”; and

WHEREAS, a realignment of the intersections of Lincoln Avenue, CR 655 and Main Road, CR 555 in the vicinity of the NJ Route 55 interchange is needed to enhance safety and provide for a more efficient flow of truck traffic and freight to serve a new industrial development project at that location; and

WHEREAS, the City of Vineland is proposing to extend Burns Avenue to accommodate further the freight transportation needs at the industrial park; and

WHEREAS, an extension of rail line of approximately 9,000 linear feet from the Conrail Main Line at Southeast Boulevard is needed to serve the site and provide for internal train movements on site.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF CHOSEN FREEHOLDERS OF THE COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND, as follows:

1.              That this Board hereby authorizes John Knoop, County Engineer to work with the City of Vineland and the Cumberland County Improvement Authority to assemble the information required for the submission of the grant application and to facilitate its submission.

2.              That this Board understands that the County Improvement Authority is responsible for funding the preparation and development of the grant application

3.              That this resolution does not commit the Board to obligate any funding for this project beyond that which may be obtained through the grant.
